just seen this advert again and its another good demonstration of using simple characters with interesting textures. Notice how the mums and little girls dress has the frill which is similar to our lady gnomes and hero gnomes beard (currently) - how i imagine it would look in 3d! heres the ad and a few print screens for reference:
